NEED AN HONEST ANSWER ABOUT CISCO ISE APPLIANCE
« on: September 20, 2013, 05:48:38 AM »
What is your take here:

Cisco has announce end of sale and end of life on 33x5 NAC/ISE appliance encouraging existing customer to upgrade to new appliance.

Does that mean customer with service contract will have to purchase a new appliance or there can be old appliance replacement with new one?

Just one thing to add, when we were talking to our Cisco partner about buying new appliance's he told us the new ones only run 1.2. Something to keep in mind too.

Regards,
I am sure you can continue to purchase SmartNet for the old model until EoS for service so no need to buy new appliance. I don't think Cisco will give you a new appliance model if the old one breaks. What happen usually is Cisco keeps inventory of their EoS product until they are EoL so most likely when you RMA, you will get the same model in refurb.

Now that 1.2 is out and it is actually nicer than 1.1 so I don't think there is any reason for someone to install 1.1 on a brand new appliance unless they are adding to existing environment but good know older ISE version is not supported. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks all you have been helpful.

A little research shows that even though Cisco advice migration from old NAC appliance to ISE that does not mean this will be applicable over time once the 33x5 reach eos and eol milestone. Customer with old appliance may enjoy "discounted" price according to cisco when purchasing a new appliance but from experience if alway does not worth it. It is just a way to give you a feel that you got something from cisco even if it is 1%.

But it's good to know so that you don't promise so much to your client and at the end you shoot yourself at the feet.

Great ideal good sites!
