I would like to extend the license because I still want to discover its features

Whatever you want to do beyond purchasing the license it mean hacking into the box. But if is for testing purpose I guess some guys install it in SMB using the eval version but which ever way once your eval period expire the next ethical thing to do is to purchase the license.

Beside, you can install the fresh install and take a precausion next time to do configuration backup when it expire setup another box and roll into the config back to the new box. I have not try it out yet but one could not know what trial can give you..

Cisco do a not-for-resale (NFR) version of ISE.

You can obtain this from the Partner Evaluation Site.

It's a permanent license for 20 nodes - more than enough for lab work.

They're currently offering 1.2. I obtained 1.1 and it's updated OK.

The one problem is with version 1.2, you now require a support contract to obtain the updates. I've spoke and emailed no end of people at Cisco about this, but cannot find a resolution. I'm not prepared to purchase a SMARTnet for an NFR product.

Yeah NFR is meant and only meant for Cisco Partner for the purpose of demonstration ISE features during Proof of Concept (POC) usually use by pre-sale engineer to sell Cisco ISE solution.

Giving it out will definitely be outside license agreement.

NFR is Available only to Cisco Registered Partners and Resellers Only. For end users there is no option to get the evaluation license extended.

Even the backup and restore will not work as the licensing information will be available within the backup.

The only possible way is get the new licenses from cisco SE.
