What are the key differences? AMP appliance vs Firepower
« on: October 01, 2016, 10:27:07 AM »
Hi
What are the main differences on having AMP services running on a Firepower let's say on an ASA5555X with Sourcefire compared to having an AMP 8350 appliance?  is it just throughput/performance? Can both technologies identify the same type of Malware? If I already know how to configure Malware using FireSIGHT for ASA 5555X, are the same configuration parameters the same for configuring AMP 8350? I will deeply appreciate your comments. Thanks!

You are correct. AMP appliance came from the Sourcefire Appliance and is normally used for high throughput application. Firepower Management Center config should be the same between AMP appliance and ASA Firepower except for certain hardware related feature like stacking/HA, VPN etc. supported by AMP appliance. and of course, ASA Firepower lives inside an ASA so you can still do all the regular ASA supported features on the ASA5500.
