Title: HA PSN Custom Portal challenge
Post by: adecisco on September 18, 2013, 03:19:43 PM
Dear All,

I have this current High Availability scenario where I have up to 7 PSN. They are not behind any load balance neither will the client be able to provide such. But I need to create an alias for guest sponsor login portal and mydevices portal so as to create a custom and easy to remember url. e.g.

PSN01   172.16.10.10    psn01.example.com
PSN02   172.16.10.11    psn02.example.com
PSN03   172.16.10.12    psn03.example.com
PSN04   172.16.10.13    psn04.example.com

As we should know you cannot configure duplicate domain alias name map to different dns IP.

But the challenge is which of the PSN can I configure the alias on my dns that will ensure reliability.

Your input will be appreciated much.

Regards,

One way I can thing of is configuring URL alias for Mydevices and Sponsor portal on ISE (eg. mydevices.domain.com) and create a corresponding DNS record mapping to all IP of the PSNs. That way users only need to know a single URL for each portal. Obviously, the downside is DNS load balancing does not detect a failed server.

MC thanks for your reply. Really this is the initial plan but the concern is to address load balancing of incase on of the PSN fails.

I will keep looking up to the solution and will keep you posted if I have a better alternative.

Cheers.
