Title: New deployment for Catalyst 3560 vs 3750x Series
Post by: Bejiening on October 29, 2013, 07:07:35 PM
Hi, I'm looking for advice about prefered access switch for new deployment.I want to choose between cisco catalyst 3560 and 3750x.Can someone give me an advice to make a decision ?

My friend suggest me try to use Cisco WS-C3560X-24P-L or CiscoWS-C3750X-24T-L. Had someone who have used those two switches? Is it worth to have?

Your switch choice should be determine by the following:

1. Network Design
2. Features you are looking for
3. Throughput
4. Cost (What is your budget)

Basically the higher a switch the better the feature but both should be ok. If you have all the bucks at hand going for 3750x will be a good way to go.

Like adecisco said, it is all about the requirements and budgets. Generally the 3560X and 3750X are good multi-purpose switches. Now the 3750X are being replaced by 3850 and 3560X will soon be replaced by 3650. If you are able to share what you need, we can help picking out HW. This includes things like:
- Number of ports
- PoE or non-PoE
- L3 required?
- Stackability?
- Purpose of the switch (eg. Core, User Access etc.)
- Any mandatory feature
